Today I'm feeling thankful for my mom. She's always there when we need her and does so much for all of us.
This weekend she came over to help with some holiday decorating. Betty is ALL about some decorating. I have to calm her down most of the time or she'd have every inch of my house decorated. This year she decided to share her knowledge and have Morgan make the wreath/swag/whatever you want to call it for the front door.
And the finished product.
For the record, it's not hanging on the door yet. I refuse to put it up before Thanksgiving. We had to get it completed early because Betty's schedule gets busy this time of the year. She decorates her friends houses or ties bows for them or shops with them.....she's just a busy lady so we have to grab her when we can. :-)
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for this year--as always.

C-L-E-M-S-O-N
So this happened last week.....
Our girl has officially been accepted to Clemson University. She will be majoring in Engineering. She hasn't picked her field yet. She likes Mechanical and Electrical but hasn't ruled out Civil either. Her first year she will be in the general Engineering classes.
She is VERY excited and happy to be Tigertown Bound next August. We're pretty excited too.

Long Time No See...
Wow. It's been a while hasn't it? I guess when you get in a routine and things are humming along at the normal pace, you tend to forget about things like blogging. Who wants to hear about routine things like laundry, volunteering, high school, etc? That's my main reason for not posting--there isn't too much to report that would entertain you fine folks.
Here's a little snapshot of a few things that have been happening.
1. Senior Pictures. This was a little bit of a throwback that I posted on Instagram. 1983 vs 2015

And here's another throwback. 2004 to 2015.
Someone in the family has had some fun trips to Clemson for football games. She even ran into the governor of SC after one of the games and of course you have to take a picture with her.
And then you have to take a picture with a bunch of friends from high school who all want to go to Clemson. They look the part, don't they?
And you have to take a family selfie before you head out for the homecoming game.
We've had gorgeous sunsets lately. I had to capture this one.
I'm actually thinking about Christmas already. I had to have this guy. I think he will be a fun addition to our decorations. For some reason, people love the elves I use to decorate with during Christmas. (there may be an inside joke there)
That is all I have to report for today. I will try to stop by more often to update you on all the happenings around here. :-)

September
We're halfway thru September and here a few things on my mind.
1. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. (you know I had to cover this topic) There has been more attention this year and I truly hope it raises the funds that are so desperately needed. I'm especially excited that Nation Ford spirit club is sponsoring a "Going Gold for Childhood Cancer" theme this Friday night. If you're going to the game break out your yellow/gold and show your support! Morgan decided she needed a "cheer bow" to wear in her hair--so she used the trusty internet for a "how to" video. It was a first in our house--there has never been anything cheer related here.
We've had a bow on our mailbox for weeks. I've seen a lot around town too. It's great.

There are so many precious children battling this awful disease. Please pray for Harlan and his family. He has the same tumor that Jenna had and has recently received news that no family should never hear after his latest MRI. I've also been asked to pray for a 5 yr old girl named Jayelynn who has just been diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumor. There are so many that need our prayers. Please, please, please pray!
2. This will be the old woman complaining portion of this post. I have been battling plantar fasciitis in my left foot for over a month. It. Is. NOT. pleasant. At all. I've never had a problem with my feet before and let me just tell you that I had no idea how bad it could be. Luckily I've found some specialized shoe inserts that seem to be helping. I'm not 100% but maybe close to 75% now. I'll take it for now.
3. I can't think of anything else. I could talk about Morgan's senior year or the weather or the cat but that's really a bit hohum for me today. There's just not much to report. I will leave you with a photo from last week's NF spirit theme "Merica". These girls love them some red, white, & blue and boots. :-)

Low Key Labor Day
We had a very low key Labor Day weekend. We spent time with friends and family and that was about it!
The view we had on Sunday afternoon.
Morgan and friends enjoyed some canoeing and kayaking.
It's all fun until the boat police stop you.....in a canoe....and give you a warning for not having a whistle and being short 1 life jacket. They had a jacket and a lifebelt but they didn't approve of it in place of a jacket.
You would think on a major holiday they would be concerned more about people drinking and driving boats but obviously these girls looked more suspicious.
And I include this picture so the dedicated blog followers can see the sweet potato plant growing in the waterfall planter. Not a bunker group but not too shabby either.
That is all I have to report. Low key is good.

By the way, someone has a new job. She's crossed over from travel/club soccer player to refereeing. She sets her own schedule and makes pretty good money for it! It's a win-win.

Senior
I've enjoyed my summer break from blogging and I'm now back here to my little old blog.
I'm not going to recap and post pictures from summer. I'm giving you guys a break (and maybe me too). Let's just say it was a great summer that like most, went way too fast. We didn't take any big trips this year. Morgan went to Nashville for a week with FBLA and then to Montreat with church youth group for a week. She was the traveler for the summer.
School has started and that means our girl is officially a Senior. I am excited for her. Senior year is such a wonderful time. She's already completed one college application as well. It happens to be her only choice for college. I'm not having any luck getting her to come up with a couple "back-up" options. She's kind of hard headed about it. No idea where she gets that trait. :-)
Here are a couple senior portrait shots that hubby took at the beach this summer. He'll be doing more this fall.
It's good to have a photographer in the family. She has to take the formal pictures at school. They use a drape picture (can't believe they still do those) and she can submit a casual photo for the yearbook.
I'll be checking back in soon. Just wanted to let the world know we were still alive and kicking.

Pictures from summer
It is summer and here are a few sights from the cell phone.
Always seem to have someone hanging by the pool these days. These 3 girls solved lots of problems this day.

Someone showing off her muscles before starting boot camp. Yes, Morgan is trying to keep up with her mom. She's doing pretty good but I dog her on some things. :-) (she can out run me for days and I'm ok with that)
Summer is a good time for home improvement projects. This is the cleaned and repaired grout in the master shower. It made me very happy.
Always fun when this little cutie patootie comes to swim. Can't believe she's getting so big
Swimming makes you want goldfish.
And in the totally random file.....saw this lovely lion recently. It was only $999. Everyone needs one, don't you think??
Hope you're enjoying summer! Tricia
